We know all grandparents feel like their grandchildren are the greatest and smartest. But we feel especially blessed by our Emily. We so much enjoyed our walks and talks. There were moments of festiveness when we all pitched in to cook a new recipe that she had found on the internet. There were fun times when she was a part of our tradition of cooking fruitcake cookies every year and we watched the excitement of her mailing them to a huge network of friends. Then there were the moments when she would give us a big smile as we functioned as the “official foot rubbers.” She also was a wonderful consultant in the realm of helping us decide what clothes to buy and which ones looked the best for a particular occasion.
She was easy to love and a huge joy in our lives. And we strive to demonstrate in our lives the motto she followed: “IT’S A GOOD DAY TO HAVE A GOOD DAY!”
We are so hopeful that a cure for her cancer will soon be found. We didn’t win the battle, but St. Jude gave us extra years to enjoy her. So we run to raise funds to help others have extra years and maybe win their battle.
Thank you in advance for your loving support.
