If you told spring 2013 Izzy that she would run a marathon in 2019, she would've laughed and then slept right through her alarm for her first half marathon (sorry mom and Olivia for disappointing you both!).
But now, I'm running to benefit St. Jude Heroes and you better believe I'm setting at least 5 alarms on race day!
Along with two of my colleagues, we have decided to raise awareness and donations for the kids and families at St. Jude with the important goal of finding a cure for childhood cancer. Cancer is a horrible disease that has impacted us each individually and St. Jude is committed to supporting those battling cancer, their loved ones and pushing cutting edge research to find a cure.
Your donation to St. Jude will help in a multitude of ways:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, and they won't stop until no child dies from cancer
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children
Donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over and I'm inevitably eating deep dish pizza somewhere in Chicago, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.
Thank you :)
