Here we are. Another starting line of a World Major marathon - this time the renowned New York City Marathon.
This is my third year raising money for sick kids, and second year doing so with St Jude’s.
This cause is personal for me because I have two healthy kids (Ella, 5 and Max, 3) and could not imagine having to go through what the children and their families of St Jude’s must.
In December I had the privilege of running the St Jude Memphis Marathon. While on that trip I visited the St Jude Campus, and was given a private tour led by a research doctor that my Mother-in-Law taught in Kindergarten. It was eye-opening and renewed my faith in this great cause.
Flash forward to today, and I am committed to fundraising for the NYC marathon, but this time with the goal of raising double what I did for Chicago!
A few fun facts about St. Jude:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Please donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues until survival is 100%.
