When David was diagnosed with a cancer so rare only 200 people have ever received the same diagnosis, St. Jude was there. St. Jude treats the patient at the highest standard of medical care, but beyond that, they care for the family. They provide hope, comfort, any accommodations you can imagine, and most importantly they provide time together. St. Jude gave us two years with David; two years filled with beautiful memories. David was able to travel to my meets and be my biggest cheerleader. We were able to spend holidays together, and go on vacations as a family. Even when David was inpatient for treatments, St. Jude allowed us to be right by his side.
Cancer is a journey no family wants to go on, but St. Jude makes it a little easier. And after all they have given us, this is a chance for us to give back.
Did you know:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.
