Apparently having a baby wasn't challenging enough, so I've decided (after much influence from a friend) to run the Chicago Marathon as a St. Just Hero this October! My first marathon was the Memphis St. Jude Marathon over 10(!) years ago and I fundraised for the same race in 2013. Now I'm doing it again! Except this time I'm older, slower, and with considerably more vomit involved in my day-to-day life.
Proving to myself that I can run a marathon less than year after having a very (if I do say so myself) cute baby is a big motivator, but about 75% of the fun comes from fundraising for St. Jude. This place is very close to my heart and I'm extremely excited to be running as a St. Jude Hero once again.
Here's what makes donating to St. Jude such an amazing gift:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
So please donate to help me reach my fundraising goal and follow my journey as I train this year!
