There are many reasons people choose to do endurance events. For me it’s the excitement, the friendships, the training, the feeling of accomplishment... I’ve competed and completed races of all distances, and each has presented unique challenges. I’ve learned a lot about myself through these experience, and this race will certainly be no different in that aspect.
So, what’s different about this race? I have chosen to enter this race as a St. Jude Hero. I am blessed beyond measure with a strong and healthy body, as are my husband and son. However, there are many who are not as fortunate.
St. Jude serves children and families from around the world as they provide treatment and conduct research that will one day eradicate childhood cancer.
Each mile of this 70.3 mile race, I will pause (mentally) to give thanks for the blessings in my life, to say a prayer of healing for those afflicted with cancer and to be grateful to those who have helped me reach my goal.
Please consider making a donation. Together we can help St. Jude make cancer a thing of the past!
