Hey friends and family! I have chosen to run for a reason bigger than myself by fundraising for the kids and families at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I am training to cross the finish line on race day and with your donation we can cross the fundraising finish line together because the money you donate helps find a cure for childhood cancer. I first became close with St. Jude's philanthropy in 2011 when I joined my service sorority, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, at Illinois State University. Over the years, we held various fundraisers supporting St. Jude. Together, we were able to raise an amazing total of over $121,000 to benefit their research. In 2016, I had the privilege of running for the St. Jude Heroes' team in my first ever Chicago Marathon. Well, the running bug has hit me again as I train to run 26.2 miles while supporting this organization near and dear to my heart. I am really looking forward to running for this amazing cause once again and helping to support the children at St. Jude, every little bit helps!
Did you know:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
