I am a St. Jude Hero! I have chosen to once again raise funds for St. Jude and run the half marathon.
My son, Coleton, is my inspiration. He now two thirds of the way through his treatment for Leukemia. Last year he grit his teeth and walked the entire 5k, despite the pain that has come due to his treatment. He wanted to give back and he also raised funds for St. Jude. Due to the extreme pain in his bones caused by treatment, this year he will be cheering me on as I run.
I am not just running and raising funds to help St. Jude find a cure, but in hopes that they can find cures that don’t have such life altering side effects. St. Jude is so much more than a research and treatment hospital to us.
Did you know:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, and they won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.
