Hello friends! It's that time of year again when I ask you all to donate whatever you're able to my fundraiser for St. Jude. Although I have thankfully never had a personal connection to childhood cancer, I can't imagine how it must feel for a family to get that kind of devastating news. I run the DC Rock n' Roll Half Marathon every year to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital so that if a family does get that news, they have a place to turn to without having to worry about how they'll pay to keep their child alive.
Some facts about the work that St. Jude does:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, and they won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
I know we're all coming out of the holiday season when money might be a little tight, but even $5 goes a long way to helping fund the incredible research done at St. Jude. I'd appreciate any support you can give!
