This will be my 5th year participating in St. Jude's Marathon Weekend, my 3rd year fundraising with this incredible team, and my 1st year attempting the full marathon. Yep. You read that right. I will be trying to make it all 26.2 miles. Why? Because this is the year. The year Adam's Army is aiming to hit the $1 Million fundraising mark. We are working harder than ever to meet this goal that Adam has set out to reach since 2015 and every dollar counts. To show my support and commitment to Adam and this goal I am joining him in training for the full marathon and have upped my fundraising level to $1,500. So please donate, join our team, or share Adam's story by visiting www.adamsarmy.net . I hope you take the time to read, watch, and experience his St. Jude story.
I feel incredibly honored to have Adam and his whole family in my life and grateful to St. Jude for providing the lifesaving treatment for Adam to be able to teach me and so many others how to make every day count no matter how difficult, painful, or disheartening life can be.
Adam ran the half marathon in 2016 after receiving chemo in both legs and he ran the 2017 half marathon after completing 2 and 1/2 years of treatment and receiving over 1,000 doses of chemo. For Adam, the side effects of treatment span far beyond the physical ones, and those alone are overwhelmingly painful enough. But the lasting effects of treatment are deeply emotional as well; the survivors guilt, the depression, and the PTSD. All of these are ever present in his life and he is brave enough to be open about. You can hear more about Adam's life post treatment by watching the video series St. Jude has put together while following him on his Trek to a Million this year by visiting www.adamsarmy.net/videos or on St. Jude's Inspire page.
So here we are in 2019. Adam's Army has raised over $700,000 and we will be in sight of the $1 Million dollar mark with your contributions. Help us cross that finish line this December. This is the final push on our Trek to a Million. The only question is: Will you join us?
