I am a St. Jude Hero! I am a St. Jude mother. I have lost a daughter. My Carson Elizabeth. But, I am not alone. Sadly, 1 out of 5 children with childhood cancer will not make it. 20%. Is that acceptable? Not to me. That is why I am asking for your help on behalf of the kids at St. Jude right now fighting for their lives, and for the ones that will walk through the door today and tomorrow and the next. Families continuing to hear for the first time, "your child has cancer", even on holidays, weekends, and yes, even during pandemics. Because childhood cancer knows no boundaries. I can hear my angel, Carson Elizabeth telling me that I can do more. That is what she would have wanted. Before Carson went to heaven to have her forever tea parties with Jesus, she asked her Daddy and I to give her piggy bank money to St. Jude. We fulfilled her promise, and gave St. Jude $128.56 from Carson's piggy bank. That is what a 9 year old little girl could do. She believed with all her heart that it might be her own money that would find a cure for cancer. That was her belief, her own faith. What a lesson she taught us! This was more important to her than anything else at the time, and it was something bigger than herself.
Carson Elizabeth is the reason that I am part of St. Jude Heroes Spirit Week. The kids at St. Jude matter, Carson Elizabeth still matters, especially during times such as this. That's why they need our help. What could Carson have done in a week? What can you do in a week? Please share this on your social media pages with anyone and everyone; it's that easy and it's that important. As Carson would say, "Every penny counts"! Please give what you are able and let's see the pennies add up for the kids of St. Jude.
Did you know:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Donate today, don't wait. Even though Carson's race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues. And so will I!
Much Love and Blessings,
Paula
