I have loved my involvement with St.Jude throughout undergrad as a Tri Delta and am continuing to do so through my graduate studies. I am currently doing my graduate research project with the Cancer Predisposition Clinic (CPC) at St. Jude! In short, am investigating the quality of their referral method into their clinic and tumor surveillance protocols. If you didn't already know my entire fall semester will be spent in Memphis, TN where St. Jude is located. I will also be rotating through the St. Jude clinic for a portion of my fall semester, the rest will be spent in other hospitals around Memphis.
Last year, I raise $720 for St. Jude through my first 5k. This year I want to challenge myself to raise $1000 for St. Jude throughout the rest of 2019.
St. Jude costs a total of $0 for patients and families (including all treatment, travel, housing, and food) because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Since St. Jude opened the overall rate childhood cancer survival rate has gone from 20% to more than 80%. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer. In the words of founder Danny Thomas "no child should die in the dawn of life".
How your contribution can help directly help the kids at St.Jude:
$10 provides a new toy for hospital rec areas
$25 is the cost of bone barrow needles
$50 pays for a platelet count test
$100 covers costs of pediatric crutches
$250 gives a child a red blood cell transfusion
Please donate and help me reach my goal! Make sure to check and see if your company will match your donation (if you aren't sure how to do this please ask me!)
