The St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend is now a VIRTUAL event....but I'm STILL ALL IN!
On Saturday,December 5th, I completed the newly formed "2 Race Challenge." I was scheduled to run the Half Marathon, which I will still did, but I also added the 10K as my "official" 2nd race of the "2 Race Challenge." Actually, I went ahead and added in the 5K and did, what I'm calling, "The Hero Challenge."
Training has been up and down with some calf injury issues, but recently I competed in a REAL race, a 5K here in Omaha, Neb. Actually, I found out later, that I got 1st in my age group! How did that happen? I feel strong in my running and that is mostly due to the other cross training work outs I have been doing. Also, along with walking with my wife, Chris and our dog, Bella, we have been walking at least a mile a day. We have been doing this, without missing a day, since May 1st.
Why continue to do all the training, working out and walking everyday, since Memphis is now VIRTUAL? I'm choosing to run for more than myself. I'm using my running to help save kids' lives by fundraising for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as I train. I'm running for kids who might be too sick to run today, but who could one day be running alongside me because the money I raised helped find a cure for childhood cancer.
We have a BIG goal for this year, $10,000. As of this update, we are at $10,138 or 101% of goal.
I know things look different right now, but if you can help, the patient families at St. Jude would be so grateful. Your donations help them only have to focus on the health of the child.
Please donate and help me reach my goal!
Thank you for your support of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and my efforts running the 2020 St. Jude Memphis Marathon VIRTUAL Weekend.
