This is my 7th year to sign up and run (Half Marathon) as a St. Jude Hero, and again this year I'll be running in memory of my little brother, Denny. Denny Brewer,(10-1-1964---5-31-1981). Denny spent 5 weeks in the hospital before he received a diagnosis. One week after the diagnosis of a very rare, very aggressive cancer, Denny passed away at the age of 16. Denny was never a patient at St. Jude, but this is my way of remembering him and helping the kids at St. Jude that are fighting their battles each day.
I'm choosing to run for more than myself. I'm using my running to help save kid's lives by fundraising for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as I train. This year I've committed to raise $5,000.00, but I've set a personal goal to raise $15,002. This is $1.00 more than I raised in 2019.
I am training to cross the finish line on race day and with your donation we can cross the fundraising finish line together because the money you donate helps find a cure for childhood cancer.
Did you know:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.
