I have chosen to run again this year for a reason bigger than myself by fundraising for the kids and families of St. Jude.Your repeated support of our team and this cause is heartwarming! Why does our team continue? Because cancer is awful. No child should have to fight it, and no parent should have to watch their child endure it. Thank you for working toward the goal of ensuring that every child - every single one - survives the battle and goes on to live a healthy life. Did you know:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened over 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive that rate to 90%, and they won't stop until no child dies from cancer,
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
This year’s Marathon Weekend is December 4-6. We will be there. We will be joyful, we will cry, we will be inspired and we will be sad. Friday night begins with a dinner for the fundraisers where we will listen to a family tell us about their journey from diagnosis through their ongoing treatment at St. Jude Hospital. St. Jude’s CEO will talk about the amazing St. Jude organization. On Saturday morning we run. Last year there were over 26,000 runners from 49 states and 26 countries, and there were 40,000 spectators cheering us on. It is an amazing experience, and I encourage you to join us at some point in your future.
Thanks to family and friends like you, the 2019 Marathon Weekend raised over $12M. Will you help again? A $5 donation or a $10 one or a $25 one – any amount is appreciated because the cause is exceptionally important. Let’s end childhood cancer together.
