I have chosen to run again this year for a reason bigger than myself by fundraising for the kids and families of St. Jude. Your repeated support of our team and this cause is heartwarming!
This is our team's fifth year running for the kids. Other than running, what are we doing in 2019 leading up to the St. Jude Marathon Weekend in Memphis? We will host our second Halloween-themed trivia night. Last year it raised $17,000 for the kids! We will also hold a bingo night for the first time. I've set my individual fundraising goal at one that will require the help of local businesses holding fundraisers for me. I'm off to a great start with engaging four businesses!
Why does our team continue? Because cancer is awful. No child should have to fight it, and no parent should have to watch their child endure it. Thank you for working toward the goal of ensuring that every child - every single one - survives the battle and goes on to live a healthy life.
This year's Marathon Weekend is December 6-8. We will be there. We will be joyful, we will cry, we will be inspired and we will be sad. Friday night begins with a dinner for the fundraisers where we will listen to a family tell us about their journey from diagnosis through their ongoing treatment at St. Jude Hospital. St. Jude's CEO will talk about the amazing St. Jude organization. On Saturday morning we will run. Last year there were over 26,000 runners and 40,000 spectators from around the world. It is an amazing experience, and I encourage you to join us at some point in your future. Thanks to family and friends like you, the 2018 Marathon Weekend raised over $11.2M. Will you help again? Any amount is appreciated because the cause is exceptionally important. Let's end childhood cancer. Together.
