I am once again participating in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend as a part of Team Aaron. Sadly, Aaron lost his battle with anaplastic ependymoma in 2013 just shy of his 17th birthday.
While I never got to meet Aaron I have come to know his parents over the last several years. To quote his mother, "Aaron loved what he called the 3G's-God, Golf, and Going to the Gym. He pretended to hate school but he loved every minute of being there and making excellent grades. Aaron loved to play golf, talk about golf, watch golf, read about golf, and play golf video games. Aaron loved to read things with larger than life heroes like Harry Potter, Star Wars, the Dragon Rider Eragon, and Lord of the Rings. Aaron wanted to just be plain ole Aaron but he will always be Aaron the Amazing to me and all the others he has touched through his cancer journey."
In the words of Aaron's dad, we want everyone to join in our battle to raise awareness for childhood cancer. We believe that through awareness comes funding and through funding will come a cure. Don’t let Aaron’s battle be in vain.
Thank you!
