New York State of Mind
This year is the 15th anniversary of my daughter Samantha’s diagnosis of osteosarcoma. It had already spread to her lungs when it was diagnosed. As you know, Samantha is a SURVIVOR of osteosarcoma because she was treated at St Jude. She has grown so much in that time. She has gone to proms, homecomings, attended her sibling's weddings, become an aunt 5 times, graduated high school, attended college, changed her major 3 times, changed colleges, fallen in love, had her heart broken, traveled, enjoyed concerts and sporting events, finished a half marathon......I could go on and on.
All of this would not have been possible without St Jude Children's Research Hospital. There would have been a huge empty hole in my life where Samantha should have been.
It's my goal to continue to help raise money for St Jude so that other mom's can watch their precious children live their lives after childhood cancer. To see them survive.
I am a running the New York Marathon as aSt. Jude Hero! I have chosen to run for a reason bigger than myself by fundraising for the kids and families at St. Jude. I am training to cross the finish line on race day and with your donation we can cross the fundraising finish line together because the money you donate helps find a cure for childhood cancer.
Did you know:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.
