I am a St. Jude Hero! This will be my 15th year as a St. Jude Hero for the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend and I'm excited to reach my fundraising goal of $4,000 as I run the 10K event.
With the uncertainty of these times, rest assured your support is important and that I'll continue to train and fund raise (and optimistically hope I'll be running the 10K in Memphis and not in my neighborhood instead). Your support is perhaps even more important this year as many major spring and summer St Jude fundraising events have been canceled and as the patients receiving care are among the high-risk group for complications from COVID-19. Being quarantined during state stay-at-home orders gave me a glimpse into how isolating it must be for young patients in treatment.
Did you know:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.
