I cannot believe it has been 11 years since we heard those dreadful words, "Your child has cancer." This year has been a big year for Sam. He is a 6th grader at St. George’s and is now in middle school with big brother Luke. He has transitioned to the survivor clinic where he is monitored annually for lasting effects of chemotherapy. He still sees Dr. Wilson and Dr. Hoehn once a year in the eye clinic. Our appointments come less frequent now and our prayers are with those who are in the midst of this scary journey. Our perspective of faith and life has forever changed because of what we have experienced.
I am "giving back" to the hospital that saved Sam's life. For the last six years, I have volunteered through the Patient and Family Centered Care department as a Parent Mentor and a Parent Advisor.
So, I have decided to run the 5k AGAIN with Sam, often thinking to not give up while training because Sam and his friends never do!
Help us continue to fight for these kids by supporting St. Jude and raising funds in order to help expand research to save lives and offer the best quality of life to Sam and his friends!
How your donation helps:
•Thanks to donors like you, no family ever pays St. Jude for anything.
•St. Jude will continue to improve the treatment of childhood cancer and other deadly diseases through its groundbreaking research.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support over these 10 years!
Rebekah (mom to Sam, my hero!)
