For us...it's personal. It became a personal mission of Fleet Feet Nashville to support St. Jude, when Dean Ives joined our staff at the Hendersonville store. You see, he runs because his daughter couldn't.
Dean's 11 year old daughter Sydney died of a brain tumor in 2009, after an 18 month battle. A battle that was a little more tolerable because of her treatment at St. Jude. Dean and his wife Tasha credit the efforts of St. Jude for the QUALITY and QUANTITY of months they had left with their little girl.
Dean and Tasha still believe in all St. Jude does to support their current patients, as well as those who don't receive a cure. They sit on several advisory roles at St. Jude, including bereaved parent mentors, bereaved parent educators, they sit on the Quality of Life Steering Council and do all they can to spread this message:
At St. Jude, 80% find a cure, but the 20% who don't, still matter. Let's do all we can to find a cure for all...and in the mean time...support ALL St. Jude patients and families well.
Together, FLEET FEET NASHVILLE powered by TEAM IVESTRONG wants to do more than run. We want to work to support the live-saving mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
We're fundraising while we train for our race so we can make a difference in the lives of kids with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
For us, it's personal. Join our team and become a part of Sydney's legacy! By raising funds, you can help Sydney's legacy RUN on!
