Sylvia M. Austermiller, age 76, June 7th, 2019. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, C.J. Loving mother to Heidi (Kenneth) Weiss and Rebecca (Adam) Leichtweis. Cherished grandmother to Haley Hinton and Hannah Weiss, and great grandmother to Avery. Dear sister to Cynthia Clarahan, aunt to James and Andrew; great aunt to Thomas and John.
Sylvia had many passions but most important to her was her family, many friends, the arts and travel. She graduated from Wayne State University with a Masters Degree in Educational Sociology, Urban Anthropology, Educational Measurement and Statistics. She was an Educator as her profession and at heart. Syl created and ran the Student Success Center at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. She was also involved with Girl Scouts and was a Leader to many troops. She traveled the world and was a great story teller who touched many, many lives and will be sorely missed.
Sylvia was known for her quick wit, great laugh, her kind and compassionate, but pertinacious spirit.
