When Corbin learned his leukemia had returned, he continued fighting, but at the same time began to think about his legacy. Heavy on his heart were the children still battling cancer. He often called them by name in his prayers. He told us that instead of flowers at his memorial service, he wanted to invite friends and family to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital where he received so much love and the best, most tender care in the world. His team, who became family to us, cared for him until his last moment and lamented that they could not do more for him. God worked many times through the capable hands at St. Jude to add to Corbin's days, and we are thankful for every single precious day we were given with him. But it is important to us that you know, that although Corbin accepted the news he was going to die gracefully, and although he faced death bravely, given the choice, he wanted to live. He wanted to go to college, get married, be a dad one day, and be an amazing criminal defense lawyer. Cancer robbed him of those dreams that so many of us take for granted. No one understood more than Corbin the need for more life-saving research for his friends still fighting, and he never turned down an opportunity to share his story to raise funds for St. Jude, where life-saving research extended his days and where they freely share their research so patients all over the world benefit from your gift. If Corbin's story at any point ever touched your heart, please consider honoring his memory with a gift to the place that came through for him time and time again. Give because they gave us 18 years with Corbin, and give because 18 years is not enough.
