Why we are fundraising for St. Jude
For Halloween this year, Rob and I decided to put our love for the holiday to good use and support Skeletons for St. Jude! We hope you will please consider donating to such a very important and worthy cause! You may make a donation from our SSJ page at http://events.stjude.org/RaD-Halloween.
Skeletons for St. Jude (SSJ) is a nationwide fundraising effort of Halloween enthusiasts that use their Halloween displays to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in support of children and their families impacted by childhood cancer.
Our goal is to assist St. Jude by raising as much money as possible to help sick children get well and out of the hospital so they too can enjoy these fun Halloween displays and activities.
This effort started in Holly Springs, NC in 2020, with the Robertson Family placing a St. Jude fundraising sign in their yard with their Halloween decorations, after being aired on a local news outlet. In the first year, their family, friends, and the community generated over $8,000.
In 2021, the effort grew nationwide to include over 400 homes, located in nearly every U.S. state, and generated over $151,000! Donations came from over 2,000 donors from both, this fundraising site, and a Facebook fundraiser. The Home Depot alone donated $45,000, which was part of the $151,000 total raised!
For 2022, the goal for Skeletons for St. Jude is to raise $100,000. To date, over $93,000 has been raised, which is no small feat!
Please consider helping those families impacted by childhood cancer by sharing this link on your social media pages. One hundred percent (100%) of the donations go directly to St. Jude, and all donors receive a tax-deductible receipt. Thanks to donors like you, no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food, because all a family should have to worry about is helping their child live.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago.
