Why We Support St. Jude

Travel Hike and Eat lost a dear friend and member this year. It is with fond memories of our friend, David Coleman, that we dedicate this year's walk. David lost a courageous battle against brain cancer this year and it is with these memories of our friend that we celebrate his life.

Many of us knew David even before the early days of Travel, Hike & Eat. He was part of the fabric of this community long before it had a name.
A proud Brit with a true “stiff upper lip,” David carried himself with quiet strength, grace, and an unmistakable jovial charm. Even while facing one of life’s hardest trials, he remained warm, witty, and deeply present with those around him.

My last memory of him was on this very walk, walking together on the final lap of the St. Jude Cancer Walk this past year. He tired easily, yet still made the drive up to San Francisco to support the fight against cancer — and perhaps, in his own way, to make a statement to it.
