I've committed to raising funds as a St. Jude Hero to support St. Jude's lifesaving mission of finding cures and saving children. I need your support to help me reach my fundraising goal for the kids of St. Jude. As many of you know, I teach at White Station High School. Over the last few years, I have watched our Make-A-Wish club grant wishes to several children at St. Jude. In that time we have had a few students, a few siblings of students and a couple friends of our own family who have all benefited from St. Jude.
I ran my first marathon at the Country Music Marathon in April, 2014 and got my butt kicked by those hills! But, along the way, I got to run with Rob. A St. Jude parent, who I discovered had been at Ronald McDonald House while I was volunteering there, years ago. Like me, he teaches science in Kansas and his son is now doing really well and getting ready to go to college. Not everyone has been so lucky, though the St. Jude staff works hard to make as many miracles as possible come true.
Each year this race becomes bigger and better. And each year the benefits of being around all of these people becomes even more true and even more clear.
This place is incredible. Happiness and excitement literally pore out of the walls. When I was there as a nursing student it was an incredible experience that I hope to never forget.
Geoff and I have a friend, mostly his, but I adopted her. She would not still be here were it not for St. Jude. Join me in supporting this amazing place and the amazing work it does!
Last year I got to watch Annie raise more money than me and run for the second time. This year, should be just as fun! I am excited to do this again!!
Here's a few incentives for you...
If you donate $25 you may pick a runnable song for me to add to my day-of playlist
If you donate $50 you may pick 3 runnable songs for me to add to my day-of playlist.
If you donate $75 you may pick my socks for run day...send me a link and I'll buy them and wear them. (Please make sure they are actually running socks...this could be SERIOUS otherwise.)
If you donate $100 you may pick out my shirt for run day...send me a link and I'll buy it and wear it. (Only rule, it must actually be something to run in and not cost me more than $50)
If you donate $200 you may pick out my shorts/skirt for run day...same as before, send me a link and I'll buy it and wear it. (Same rules apply, must actually be something to run in and not cost me more than $50)
It costs $1.8 million a day to operate St. Jude. Did you know that 70% of the funds come from the public? That means your donation, no matter what the size, will help!
How your donation helps:
- Thanks to donors like you, no family ever pays St. Jude for anything, including lodging, food and travel.
- St. Jude will continue to improve treatment of childhood cancer and other deadly diseases through it's groundbreaking research.
- For every child treated at St. Jude, thousands more have been saved worldwide through St. Jude discoveries.
Thank you for your support!
