St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer - Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN

Dylan Witschen #7

Welcome everyone to our 10th Annual Walk/Run benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  We began walking just 3 months after Dylan was diagnosed with Brain Cancer back in 2008.   In 2009 Dylan was able to speak to the walkers and thank them for their participation and support.  Unfortunately Dylan lost his battle with cancer but we have continued to walk in order to honor Dylan and the other children who have lost their lives or continue to battle this disease!

As Dylan spoke to us regarding his final wishes he told Ed and I he wanted to make sure we continued to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital so no other kids would have to experience what he did during his journey with cancer.  He wanted us to help raise money to find a cure for this horrible disease.  This year we are again asking for your support in raising money for the Give Thanks Walk.  The Walk is at the US BANK STADIUM  this year on Saturday SEPTEMBER 24th at 7am.   Many of you have supported us YEAR after YEAR and we cannot thank you enough!!!!  From the bottom of our hearts we appreciate your donations!!!!  DYLAN would be thrilled to see the walk at a FOOTBALL STADIUM!  His love of football is what lead to his diagnosis.

Dylan will of course be with us in spirit!!!

Our fundraising goal is lofty but why shouldn't we shoot for the moon!  Last year we raised $45,000, the top team in Minnesota.  This year we are again aiming for our #1 title and $55,000.  Please help us with your tax-deductible donation.

Quote from Dylan's book he was writing while battling cancer.

"When I first arrived at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital I was amazed by the little kids running, jumping and playing like there was nothing wrong with them, as if cancer did not exist in their bodies.  My first reaction to that was man, this cancer thing is going to be so easy, in 8 short months I will be back on the football field.  I was right about one thing and not about the other.  CANCER is hard to beat and still is the leading death of children.  BUT I did make it back to the football field and played my entire sophomore year!"

We love and miss you so much Dylan!!!!!

How your donations help:

  • Thanks to donors like you, no family ever pays St. Jude for anything.
  • St. Jude speed their research discoveries directly from their labs to the bedside of patients and to doctors and scientists everywhere.
  • One child saved at St. Jude means thousands more saved worldwide.
