Hello friends and family!
Once again I am participating in the St. Jude Give Thanks Walk/Run to end childhood cancer and am in need of your support.
August 18, 2008 is a day I will never forget. After coming back to the high school from lunch, I saw an ambulance leaving the parking lot. Little did I know, my 14 year old brother was in that ambulance and life was about to change forever. He would later that day be diagnosed with a brain tumor.
After a successful surgery, Dylan was diagnosed with brain cancer and given the choice to receive treatment in Minneapolis, or leave his friends and family to travel to Memphis, TN where his prognosis was better and he could focus solely on treating his cancer. Dylan choose St. Jude and would make the same decision a million times over again. At St. Jude the focus was strictly Dylan. After 6 weeks of radiation and 4 rounds of intense chemotherapy, he was declared NED and came back to Minnesota as happy as ever.
A few months later however, Dylan began having seizures which sent him down to St. Jude once again. At this time he was diagnosed with a second type of brain cancer that was inoperable and had no cure. He was given 6 months to live.
The last 6 months of Dylan's life were spent with friends and family and fulfilling every last wish. The final wish Dylan had when he passed was for us to continue to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, with hopes of finding a cure for childhood cancer and ensuring no child ever had to endure what he did.
That's where YOU can help! While at St. Jude my family NEVER received even one bill for Dylan's treatments. From housing, groceries, transportation and medical costs everything was 100% covered by St. Jude. St. Jude was able to utilize treatments and protocols that were not covered by our health insurance here in MN for no charge at all. The focus was strictly Dylan, which is exactly how it should be when a child is fighting cancer. Regardless of a patients race, religion or economic status, St. Jude accepts all patients in hopes for finding a cure. St. Jude FREELY shares all of their research and protocols with hospitals all over the world meaning that one life saved at St. Jude is thousands around the world.
Please help me continue to fulfill my brothers dream of no child dying from childhood cancer like he did. No donation is too big or too small for the kids of St. Jude.
Thank you for your support,
