Final Update: Wow - we made our goal, thanks to a few suprise final donations thank you & God Bless!
Update: There was an algal bloom in the lake so the swim was cancelled - just a "bike time trial" for me. I averaged 19.5 mph over the 24 mile course, though it didn't seem like I would make that as I was slower on some hills w/headwinds toward the end. But, a fast first half of the course made up for it! My goal was anything faster than 19.0. No doubt your thoughts, prayers, and giving, and thinking about those kids at St. Jude's made the difference! Thank you! At the moment, this is the 5th top independent online fundraising effort for St. Jude with $963 raised! I'm also putting in a check I received for $50 and that takes us over our goal of $1,000! If you haven't had time to give, please do so. And again, thanks for making a difference!
---------------------------
This year I am raising funds to support St. Jude's lifesaving mission of finding cures for children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases, and I need your help to reach my fundraising goal.
I'm doing the AquaBike division (swim and bike) of the Mudwater Triathlon (http://ksrvtc.com/mudwater/about-mudwater/) on Sunday, July 24th and I recently completed the Biking Across Kansas ride in June (520 miles). I'm dedicating these efforts to fundraising for St. Judes Children Research Hospital. Please help me make this count.
In the Catholic Church, St. Jude is the Patron Saint for difficult (and seemingly hopeless) cases. I have personally seen miraculous healings, by asking St. Jude to help through God. This is happening in a tangible way every day at this hospital, as a result of prayer and action by Danny Thomas, its founder. Regardless of your beliefs please give - it will make a difference!
How your donation helps:
- Thanks to donors like you, no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago.
Join me! Together we can help St. Jude change the world.
P.S. Other Mudwater Tri participants are welcome to fundraise for St. Jude's here!
