Hi everyone! We are so excited for this year's annual Summer golf tournament to be partnering and combining forces with the Wuest family to host the 2017 St. Jude Open in honor of Carol Hryb, and Mike and Bob Wuest!
The Hryb and Wuest families are very proud to honor their family members who have passed away from cancer, and raise money for The Mohawk Valley for St. Jude's. Last year's two tournaments were both a huge success so we decided this year to put all of our efforts towards one signature Summer event!
We are excited to have a new partner and venue this year as well with the great folks at Pine Hills Golf Course in Frankfort hosting this year's event! We would love to invite everyone to Central New York for this year's tournament, Saturday August 19th, however, if you can't make it, or you're not a golfer, we'd be thrilled if you could make a donation. Big or small, $20 or $200, every donation helps and makes it possible for families at St. Jude's to pay NOTHING during their stay at the hospital. It's an amazing charity and we encourage everyone to please help out in any way that you can.
With the help of many volunteers and donors from all over the US and even overseas, we raised close to $15,000 between the two tournaments in 2016. Our hope this year, in combining forces, is to create one true signature event that celebrates our respective family members by raising even MORE funds to support St. Jude's lifesaving mission of finding cures and saving children in their honor.
Carol Hryb was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, who passed away from breast cancer in 2011. She is missed by many, but having her name on this tournament, that brings so much good to the Mohawk Valley and to St. Jude's, is a perfect tribute.
Bob Wuest was a fantastic husband, father, and grandfather, who passed away from a 6 year battle with prostate cancer in 2014. He was very active in youth sports in Central New York as a coach, referee and one of the founders of the NY Mills Biddy Basketball Program. His brother Mike Wuest, who passed away before him from lung cancer, was a Physical Education teacher in Whitesboro for more than 30 years! His fellow teachers there were instrumental in starting the Wuest Classic tournament in his honor over 10 years ago.
