El Camino de Santiago or The Way of Saint James is a pilgrimage from the Pyrenees mountains in France to the steps of the The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. This journey has been undertaken by thousands of pilgrims for hundreds of years and is considered a spiritual experience that many take for a variety of different reasons.
On September 1st, 2014 my wife, my brother, my sister-in-law and I, started our journey at third of the way in Astorga, Spain and walked 200 miles to Santiago de Compostela. It was an amazing experience. It was a true test of will and determination and I think harder than any of us imagined but the joy we felt at the end of each day, and especially at the end of the journey, made it all worth it.
As I got further into the walk, I realized that I would one day be back and was determined this time around to walk with a purpose - my end goal being to help someone else, to make it count. This year on September 1st, 2015 the four of us are venturing back, but this time our goal is to walk the full 900 kilometers, God-willing. We will start in St. Jean-Pied-de-Port, France and will end our journey in Finnesterra, which is as far as you can take this trek. Here, the earth meets the ocean.
I have always admired St. Jude hospital and the amazing care they offer to kids with cancer while never charging for their services. With each step I take, I hope to bring some form of help to a child who needs it.
In the lead up to our journey, our goal is to raise as much money as we can and donate one hundred percent of the proceeds directly to St. Jude Hospital. A suggested donation amount is 10 cents for every kilometer ($90), but of course anything you can offer is very much appreciated.
We are looking forward to taking on this new adventure and doing it all for these beautiful and innocent children who need light in their lives now more than ever. Thank you so much for your sponsorship and God bless you.
