January 30, 2002.... that's the day that we walked through the front door of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with our 13 month old son for the first time. That's the day that we had the weight of the world lifted from our shoulders and felt that God was giving us HOPE. We didn't have a cure for Caleb's disease, MPS1- Hurler Syndrome, but we had HOPE. And we still do.
15 years ago we were told that Caleb had a rare genetic disease and that many people took their children home and just loved them. That the only treatment at the time was a very dangerous bone marrow transplant. 15 years ago we were told without treatment Caleb would die between the age of 5-10, but before he died, he would go blind, deaf, become mentally impaired and his organs would begin to shut down. In short.... devastation.
Now, 15 years later, we have a 16 year old COURAGEOUS son, still fighting the good fight. Thanks to our God, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
So this year is a BIG year for us. And in honor of that big 15, we want to have our biggest team yet. And instead of just walking or running in the marathon weekend, we truly want to help RUN St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
We're fundraising while we train for our race so we can make a difference in the lives of kids like Caleb. Kids with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Join us as we help run St. Jude! And please, SHARE. Share with your friends, family, and any business owners who may be interested in donating.
