I am running my first half marathon in honor of my best friend and late St. Jude patient, Emily Stephens. Please support me as I run for Emily by donating to St. Jude!
Emily fought hard against a brain tumor discovered at age 4 and this January she was called away from this life at age 23. After undergoing many surgeries and rounds of radiation throughout childhood, the tumor continued to grow and Emily became a St. Jude patient in 2013-- our sophomore year of college. She was a patient at many hospitals over the years, but would tell you herself that St. Jude was a total game changer! Not only did she receive access to incredible doctors and research studies, but she found herself a second home and family in the St. Jude staff at a time when she needed it most.
For as many years as Emily was a St. Jude patient, her family has never received a bill. Treatment, housing, travel, and food costs are all 100% covered by thoughtful donors like yourself. Truly a testament to the heart of the hospital, St. Jude takes away as many burdens as possible for patients and their families. St. Jude costs $2.7 million a day to operate, and proudly shares that $0.82 of every dollar donated goes directly to supporting patients like Emily. Not only does this money help comfort and care for current patients, but it also allows for research opportunities that have helped raise the pediatric cancer survival rate from 20% to 80% since the organization's opening 50+ years ago.

An incredible organization that I am proud to support both as a Tri Delta and personally through Emily!
