I am humbled by the number of people who have contributed and support me as a St. Jude Hero! I have remiss in sending out proper thank yous and acknowledgements. My heart is full of thanks to all of you!
I've been sidelined for a few days with a nasty cold, but I'm starting to regain some health and I hope to be running again soon. Hopefully by the weekend!
Thank you all again for your marvelous donations and thoughts!
One early morning run Ali says "I'm going to sign up for the Rock n' Roll Marathon in June. Anyone interested?" "Heck no! But thank you."
Fast forward a month or so and and here we are! I am officially signed up to run in the Rock n' Roll Half Marathon, June 3, 2018, in San Diego.
Those of you who know me well, know I love running and I love the half marathon so this doesn't sound like much of a challenge. Does it?
My challenge is not the training or the race itself. This time I'm choosing to run for more than myself. I'm using my running to help save kids' lives by fundraising for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as I train. I'm running for kids who might be too sick to run today, but who could one day be running alongside me because the money I raised helped find a cure for childhood cancer.
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food -- because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
I kicked off my fundraising by donating my race entry fee. Will you help? Please donate and help me reach my goal!
My heartfelt thanks,
