Hi! Many of you know I work in healthcare, specifically in oncology. Aside from some of the "stressful" days of cancelled flights, lost luggage and questionable hotel stays, it is such a rewarding job. At the end of the day, every day is a good day because we helped save a life.
That being said, the days that really stay with me are the days we work with children fighting cancer. I remember vividly each and every one of those days and each of those kids hugging their parents until the last second before going under anesthesia to start the procedure. They are fearless, they are fighters. Those are the really good days. The days knowing we helped save the life of a child and helped give a child another birthday, another Christmas. Those days are really special.
Another thing you probably know about me is that I love running. This year I'm choosing to run for more than myself. I'm using my running to help save kids' lives by fundraising for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as I train.
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food -- because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
Please donate and help me reach my goal! Thank you ALL in advance. You are making such a difference.
