A little over a year ago I had the chance to visit Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City where I worked with children suffering from cancer. After spending the day with these families and hearing their stories I really felt that I needed to be doing more in order to help in their fight to save their children's lives. More recently, in the past year one of my best friends lost her dad to cancer. Watching what her family had to go through was absolutely heartbreaking. Whether it is an adult or a child I want to do my part to help improve the overall survival rate for those battling with cancer. I am looking to raise $3,000 by race day for this upcoming April 28th. Together we can be the difference in these families lives and I need your help to do it!
I'm choosing to run for more than myself. I'm using my running to help save kids' lives by fundraising for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as I train. I'm running for kids who might be too sick to run today, but who could one day be running alongside me because the money I raised helped find a cure for childhood cancer.
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food -- because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
