This past January, Grant, my 11 year old son, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He had surgery on Mardi Gras day at LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, however, some of the tumor remains. Grant's tumor is a grade II Astrocytoma. Every 3 months Grant has scans at St. Jude's; when the time comes he will be treated at St. Jude's in Memphis.
Grant loves running, especially for the Christ Episcopal track team. I've decided to help raise money for St. Jude's; doing what Grant loves to do...run.
I'm running for my son and for kids who might be too sick to run today. I hope one day the children I'm running for can run alongside me because of the money we raised helped find a cure for childhood cancer.
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food -- because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
