I have always been disturbed by the thought that children, in particular, have to fight cancer. That they have to spend time away from doing "normal" kid things to seek treatment. I hate that they suffer, before they have even had a chance to experience life. I can't begin to imagine what the parents and family of these children have to go through either, the worry, fear, feelings of helplessness.
I am so glad that they have a place to go for treatment, answers, and support. St. Jude's offers all of this and more as you can read below.
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food -- because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
I have friends and family who have experienced St. Jude's from both sides, those seeking treatment and those providing care, and I am amazed by their fortitude, this is an organization very important to me.
I have been a long-time supporter of St. Jude's and it is with great excitement that I will run my first half-marathon race AND raise funds for my favoirte charity, St. Jude's.
Please donate and help me reach my goal! Any ammount is appreciated.
