- I AM RUNNING A MARATHON IN MEMORY OF MONICA WHO LEFT US IN BODY BUT NOT SPIRIT ON JUNE 14, 2016. NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT HER LOSS IS NOT FELT BY ALL OF US. I WANTED TO DO SOMETHING TO MAKE US AWARE OF WHAT MONICA DID FOR US, THE CHARITY OF HER LIFE THAT SHE GAVE EVERY DAY. SHE LOVED CHILDREN. HER MOM DIED OF CANCER. ST. JUDES SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING SHE WOULD BE HAPPY ABOUT HELPING. I AM ASKING YOU TO DONATE IN HER MEMORY TO ST. JUDES. I AM RUNNING A MARATHON (AND YES EVERY MARATHON IS 26.2 MILES SO DONT ASK HOW LONG IT IS!). MONICA HAD STARTING RUNNING AT THE TIME OF HER DEPARTURE. I WILL BE WEARING HER SHOES AROUND MY NECK SO I KNOW SHE WILL BE RUNNING WITH ME. The marathon is scheduled for June 11, 2017 in Poukeepsie NY and is called the "Walkway Marathon" I do not plan on walking. It will be along the Hudson River and I am looking forward to it. PLEASE GIVE FOR MONICA.
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food -- because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
