OMG... only 80 days to go...
Training has been going great so far; mother nature has been very accomodating. I've been pleasantly surprised with myself too. Usually, by this time in the winter, I'm ready to get out of dodge. I have to believe the fresh air each day has been very beneficial. The longest run I have done so far is 12 miles and it felt great! It was defintitely long and I chose a hard course, but knowing I did it gave my a huge sense of accomplishment. I have not experienced any muscle soreness or injuries (maybe some muscle fatigue) and I'm attributing that to listening to my body. I have really changed my workout routine and incorporated more rest into my week. This has been the hardest part for me. I'm used to working out HARD everyday and I've had to taper back a couple of my workouts. Tomorrow, I might be singing a different tune after my long run. I'm scheduled to run 14 miles. I have faith the road crews will have the streets in good condition for me.
Just over 100 days to go...
As I sit here thanking all my generous donors, reading all their supportive emails, I am drawn to the stories of all the children that St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital has helped! I can't help but think how lucky am I? I am beyond grateful to have healthy children, both my own and those of loved ones around me.
For those less fortunate, I am doing my part - raising money so your children can get the care and support that they deserve!
115 days to go... Training for a Spring marathon in Maine has it's challenges:
It's dark, it's cold, it can be snowy, icy, or raining all in the same run.
I've met all of these challenges and conquered them so far. I will not let them get me down.
There are millions of children facing much bigger challenges than me and I hope to make a difference in their lives.
On Saturday, April 29th 2017, I will be running my FIRST full marathon (26.2 miles)!
I'm dedicated to using my running to make an impact. As I train for my race, I'm raising funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Thanks to donors like you:
I will doing various fundraisers throughout the next 4-5 months. Stay tuned to your email or my facebook page for announcements.
Thank you for donating and helping me reach my goal for the kids of St. Jude!
