St. Jude Children's Research Hospital leads the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer and other life threatening diseases. I hadn't ever run anything longer than a 5K before visiting the St. Jude campus in 2016 but ever since then, I've been compelled to lace up my running shoes and run as a St. Jude Hero.
As a mom of two healthy kids, the thought of being told “your child has cancer” was terrifying but my visit to St. Jude showed me that it is a place of hope. Not only is St. Jude one of the most highly rated nonprofits and a leader in treating childhood cancer, it is a place that is dedicated to letting families focus on helping their child live. St. Jude takes of the big things and the smallest details. Families never pay for treatment, food, and housing so they can concentrate on taking care of their child. When parents pull up to the front doors for treatment, they hand over their keys, help their child out of the car and into one of the awaiting Red Flyer wagons, while someone parks their car. Isn’t that amazing?
From big things to the smallest details, St. Jude takes care of families so it’s hard not to support an organization that supports children with cancer and their families in such incredible ways.
For the third year in a row, I'm choosing to run for more than myself. I'm using my St. Jude Memphis Marathon race to help save kids' lives by fundraising for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as I train. I'm running for kids who might be too sick to run today, but who could one day be running alongside me because the money I raised helped find a cure for childhood cancer.
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, and they won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
Please donate and help me reach my goal of $3000 for the kids and families of St. Jude.
Thanks so much! I truly appreciate your support!
