"No child should die in the dawn of life." That was Danny Thomas' dream when St. Jude Children's Research Hospital opened its doors on February 4, 1962.
Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80%. But as the mother of a young daughter who had been at St. Jude said at the first pre-race dinner I attended in Memphis, "80% is great, but when your daughter is in the 20% it isn't good enough".
I'm not smart enough to be a doctor or researcher, so I'm helping the only way that I can - through fundraising.
Every dollar helps.
Thank you very much.
