Tom Hadaway here and I am not running for myself but I’m running the St Jude Marathon for 5 year old Julie from Ohio who has optic glioma. In August 2013, Julie’s eye was twitching, and Julie’s mom, Melissa knew something could be terribly wrong. Julie was diagnosed with a brain tumor called an optic glioma. They were referred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Julie became a patient within a matter of days. At St. Jude, Julie underwent chemotherapy as part of her initial course of treatment.
Inspired by Julie, Melissa, to date, has run 10 marathons, and her St. Jude Heroes Team has raised more than $70,000 to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude.
After a long break from chemotherapy, Julie is undergoing treatment once again at St. Jude, with additional support from a hospital close to home. And her sweet sister Gabby is by her side every step of the way. Julie is the little girl on the left in the photo.
I have joined Team Julie and hope to raise $5,000.00 or more. Please help me meet my goal and support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Donate now!
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall survival rate for childhood cancer from less than 20% when we first opened to 80% today. We won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.
