Friends & Family,
This November, I am running the 2018 TCS NYC Marathon in support of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. As many of you know, St. Jude is a cause near and dear to my heart. Throughout my time as a Tridelt at Vanderbilt University, I had the opportunity to meet patients and their families, visit the hospital in Memphis, TN, and fundraise for the hospital through letter writing campaigns. I also participated in the Nashville Marathon & Half Marathon for four years, first as a volunteer, and then completing two half marathons and my first marathon in the Spring of 2017. Although my time at Vanderbilt has come to an end, my love for St. Jude and all they do for the kids who need it most lives on, and I could not be more honored or excited to support them again with this new challenge.
St. Jude is an amazing place where no family ever receives a bill for their child's treatment, housing, food, or any other expense during their stay — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. That ends up costing the hospital over $2.2 million to operate each day, and public contributions, like ours, fund over 75% of all expenses. Because of support like ours, St. Jude is looking to push the childhood cancer survival rate to over 90% by 2020. Even the smallest of donations makes the biggest difference when its combined with the love and dedication of St. Jude. I know there are many well-deserving charities to support, but please consider donating to St. Jude this year and giving me the motivation to make it 26.2 miles this fall at one of the most special races of the year. All my love, Maggie
