Happy 2018!! At the beginning of every year, I try to take extra time to be grateful for the things that are so easy to overlook if we don't stop to take stock: walking (albeit begrudgingly at times..) to work in the morning, participating in vastly overpriced NYC workout classes with friends, carrying weekend getaway bags on my shoulders around airports... Though purposely silly examples, they highlight how lucky I am to have my health and have an able body that allows me to live the lifestyle I love.
Specifically this year, having just passed the 25-year marker (!!), I'm particularly amazed by how lucky I and my loved ones are, not only because we have our health, but because we are in control of it. You know that feeling when you come down with a cold.. or food poisoning.. or a hangover.. and think, "Wow, I cannot wait to feel normal again; when I get back to 100% there's no telling what I'll do.."? The harsh and heartbreaking reality is that there are children all around this country that don't have the power to make their sicknesses go away. I run on behalf of St. Jude throughout the year to remember how privileged I am and to honor and support those fighting a hard and unfair fight.
In 2018, I'll be running as a St. Jude Hero in a variety of races:
-the St. Jude Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon in Nashville on Saturday, April 28th
-the St. Jude Memphis Half Marathon in Memphis on Saturday, December 1st
Heroes are runners who fundraise while they train for their race, and I'm proud to be a part of this nationwide alliance against childhood cancer. I want to help make sure that the families of St. Jude patients NEVER receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should have to worry about is helping their child live. I'm asking, as I have many times before, that you help me to support those who are going through unimaginable times and for whom the dollar equivalent of a concert ticket or a nice dinner out can make a substantial difference. Your donation, no matter the size, will go a long way.
If you'd be so kind, please visit any of my fundraising pages above to show your support. My sincerest thank you for helping the kids of St. Jude and their families.
Much love and all my best,
