I am excited to be running my second St. Jude Memphis Marathon 5K. This year's run has a special meaning to my family - we are running as part of Team Suzy, honoring former St. Jude patient, Suzanne Pavlat. Suzanne bravely battled Neuroblastoma for many years until she lost her battle in 2001. My wife, Jane, my daughter, Lizzie, and I will be running this year for Suzanne, alongside her family and friends.
During Lizzie's first visit to St. Jude, at seven years old, she met Suzanne and her Dad, Jack, at an ice cream party. Lizzie was struck by Suzanne's smile and laugh and was in awe of how a girl, only a few years older than she was, could radiate such positivity while battling cancer. After returning home from Memphis, we continued to think of Suzanne, pray for her often, and check in on her progress. When we received the news that Suzanne's battle with cancer had come to an end in 2001, Lizzie wrote a song to honor her called "Ice Cream with Suzanne." Over the past decade, Lizzie has performed the song many times at various St. Jude events. Suzanne continues to inspire us to this day.

So, this year, our family is running for Suzanne. We're running for all the kids and families who are currently fighting and those who have bravely fought. We're running for the families, the doctors and nurses, the staff, and the volunteers.
We greatly appreciate any contribution you can make to our race.
Thank you -
