This will be my 10th consecutive year running this 1/2 Marathon in Nashville, and I have been raising money for the kids at St. Jude for over half this time. We often overlook how lucky we are with our health, and definitely if we are blessed to have children with no major health issues. But not everyone is that lucky. I have toured this incredible hospital, and watching parents pull their children around in wagons because they cannot go outside and play like most kids -- well it just eats at your heart. But St. Jude makes sure that the children receiving treatment and their families are all taken care of, and without any financial worries:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food -- because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
St. Jude operates on donations to make good on their promises above. And that is where we all come in... helping them raise that money. I will run 13.1 miles on April 28th as my commitment to you in exchange for your love and financial support. Please donate and help me reach my goal!
