Those of you who know me well are probably aware that I have a cousin, Garrett, who passed away on October 25, 2015 at the age of 12 after a long struggle with retinoblastoma, a cancer of the retina of his eyes. He was strong, seemingly fearless, mischievous, and a blessing in the lives of so many who knew him.
One thing I have learned from talking to Garrett’s family is that they sometimes fear he will be forgotten. I know this is not true. I will never forget his sly smile or his refusal to let cancer slow him down whenever he could help it. I remember once he left the hospital after a round of chemo and went hiking several miles, carrying his IV fluids on his back!
Please consider joining Team Garrett – either by making a donation or by running or walking in December – so that we can show the Helms family that we still remember and we still care. Losing a child to cancer is something that no family should have to go through, and it is only through donations from people like you that St. Jude can continue to fight to find cures. Donations of any amount will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless!
