In 2005 my daughter was diagnosed with metastatic osteosarcoma, a bone cancer that had spread to her lungs. She was treated at St Jude receiving chemo treatments for a year, and numerous surgeries for the next 10 years. At St Jude, no patient families ever receive a bill. All treatments, testing, follow ups, as well as housing, transportation costs, and food expenses are covered by donations from every day people. The average donation per person is only $30! Donations also pay for life saving research which is freely shared with health care facilities throughout the world, helping to save the lives of children with cancer everywhere. I have raised over $35000 for St Jude since my daughter was treated. I "run" in events as a St Jude hero and spend my free time planning and holding fundraisers. I want every family touched by childhood cancer to be able to say their child lived!
St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Thanks to donors like you:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
Thank you for donating and helping me reach my goal for the kids of St. Jude!
