Please help me reach my goal of $10,000.
My niece Suzi was only two years old and living in Belgrade, Serbia when she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a cancer that accounts for only 7-10% of childhood cancers but lays claim to over 50% of the malignancies found in infants. Cure rates are steadily increasing, but the cancer itself is not usually detectable until the symptoms are obvious, and so many patients have a difficult time. Suzi's physicians in Serbia suggested she go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee to be treated. Suzi started her first chemotherapy treatment on her second birthday (Christmas Eve) and, over a period of eighteen months, went through seven chemotherapy treatments, a bone marrow transplant, several radiation treatments, and two surgeries to remove the tumor. During this very difficult time Suzi's family was never asked to pay a single dollar.
This past May, Suzi graduated from the University of Illinois and has started her "grown up" job at Accenture as a Technology Analyst.
This year, I plan on running a marathon, with Suzi, as my inspiration. My goal is to raise $10,000 for St. Jude so that other children can experience life as Suzi has. Please click on Donate and make a donation so the doctors and researchers at St. Jude can continue their life saving work. Both Suzi's family and I thank you very much.
